The Junior League of Dayton is committed to serving and supporting the greater-Dayton community. To support families around the Miami Valley that may be experiencing a hardship, we have gathered this list of resources to help you find the aid that you need. This list will be updated regularly to update and provide new supports as they become available. Please contact each organization directly to confirm details and determine suitability for your needs.

Little Free Pantry Locator
The mini pantry movement is a grassroots, crowdsourced solution to immediate and local need. Whether a need for food or a need to give, mini pantries help feed neighbors, nourishing neighborhoods.

  • Good Neighbor House Food Pantry: Good Neighbor House provides a drive-thru pantry service to assist individuals and families every 14 days.Offerings include a variety of dry and canned goods, meats, and fresh fruits and vegetables when available.   • CATHOLIC SOCIAL SERVICES OF THE MIAMI VALLEY: Choice Food Pantry; Mon–Fri 9:30–11:30 a.m., closed first Friday and major holidays, service area includes 45402, 45405, 45406, 45417, and 45428. (922 W. Riverview Ave., Dayton, OH 45402)
  • HOUSE OF BREAD: Serves hot, nutritious meals 365 days a year. (9 Orth Ave., Dayton, OH 45402)
  • HAVE A GAY DAY: Community food pantry focused on providing food, hygiene items, and pet supplies to anyone in need. (1902 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45414)
  • AFL-CIO LABOR FOOD PANTRY: Supports working families and union members in need. Tue/Thu 9 a.m.–noon and 1–4 p.m.; call first/appointment required. (6550 Poe Ave., Dayton, OH 45414)
  • Fairview United Methodist Food Pantry: Food pantry is open three times a week on Monday and Friday mornings 10-12 and Wednesday evening at 6 PM. It is also open on the second Saturday 10-12 each month providing food for people in the community. Call 937-274-2180 on Monday or Friday between 9 & 10 to make an appointment for same day pickup.   • BOGG MINISTRIES MOBILE PANTRY: Mobile food pantry serving Miamisburg, Kettering, and West Carrollton communities. (9095 Washington Church Rd., Miamisburg, OH 45342)
  • Sulphur Grove Church – Huber Heights Food Pantry – Free Food Assistance: Wednesday 5:30–7:30 p.m.; ID/proof of address required; serves Huber Heights residents or regular participants of Sulphur Grove; families may receive food twice monthly and toiletries once monthly.   • New Point Church Food Pantry: Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 6PM – 8PM. (626 W National Rd, Vandalia, OH 45377)

Housing, Shelter & Homelessness

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY – DAYTON
Aid those experiencing homelessness and poverty by providing emergency shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing, food, clothing and household items, as well as guidance on the path to leading a self-sustaining life.

Daybreak Youth Shelter
Shelter and support for youth and young adults ages 10–21. Montgomery County lists Daybreak with a hotline at 937-461-1000.

Homefull
Works to end homelessness through housing, services, advocacy, and education. Public Health lists Homefull as a local housing and homelessness resource.

PATH Homeless Outreach
Outreach support for unsheltered individuals experiencing homelessness in Montgomery County.

YWCA Dayton

  • Rapid Rehousing YWCA Dayton’s Rapid Rehousing is a program that helps individuals and families who have experienced both homelessness and interpersonal violence to find safe and secure housing. Clients in this program receive housing search services, security deposit and rental assistance up to a period of 12 months, application fees, utility assistance, and supportive services including case management. They serve individuals and families that have experienced housing instability as well as domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking or human trafficking.
  • Permanent Supportive Housing YWCA Dayton’s permanent supportive housing program pairs affordable housing with voluntary support services, in order to help women who have been chronically homeless get housing and stay housed. The program is based inMontgomery County and serves single women, experiencing homelessness, who have a documented disability.

Rent, Utilities & Home Repair

Miami Valley Community Action Partnership
Multiple programs provide utility assistance, rent/eviction assistance, housing services, weatherization, domestic violence services, legal clinic, financial services, food/clothing, transportation, and PRC to eligible households in Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties.

Kroc Center
The Salvation Army offers a variety of programs in Montgomery and Greene county to help individuals and families in need.

St. Vincent de Paul Neighborhood Help
Provides neighborhood-based assistance through local conferences for residents facing housing instability, utility needs, food insecurity, or other hardship.

Catholic Social Services Utility Assistance
Provides limited utility assistance through programs such as Neighbors Helping Neighbors for households needing help with electric, gas, or water bills.

CenterPoint Energy Customer Assistance Fund
Provides eligible customers with financial assistance to help manage energy bills, administered in partnership with The Salvation Army.

Montgomery County Job & Family Services PRC / Emergency Aid
Provides Emergency Aid/PRC support for eligible families, including assistance connected to rent, utilities, transportation, home repairs, and employment-related needs.

Determines eligibility for Food Assistance/SNAP, Cash Assistance, Medical Assistance/Medicaid, Child Care Assistance, Emergency Aid/PRC, and Adult Protective Services.

Apply for or manage benefits online, including food, cash, medical, and early childhood services.

WIC – Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County
Nutrition support for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5.

Greene County Public Assistance / Job & Family Services
The Greene County Department of Job and Family Services oversees a variety of public programs that provide benefits and services to individuals and families in the areas of Children Services, Child Support, Public Assistance, and OhioMeansJobs Greene County.

Preble County Job and Family Services assists individuals in attaining self-sufficiency and personal responsibility. Numerous programs/services are available to engage individuals in meeting this goal.

Provides food pantry support and health services, including medical, dental, counseling, and eye services by appointment.

Five Rivers Health Centers
Provides accessible, comprehensive care, including primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health, dental, vision, pharmacy, diet and nutrition, and other services.

Mental Health & Substance Use Support

Miami Valley Warmline

Available Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Provides free and confidential mental and behavioral health peer-support services to the community. The warmline is a phone number you can call to receive early intervention with emotional support that can prevent a crisis along with learning about behavioral health and recovery resources available to them in the community. This differs from emergency hotlines and is not intended for emergency calls.

NAMI Montgomery County
NAMI Montgomery County Ohio is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness through support, education, and advocacy. They offer free peer-led and family support groups, educational programs, community outreach, and resource referrals to promote mental health awareness and recovery. While not a crisis service, they provide a welcoming network of understanding and connection for anyone seeking help or support in our community.

Brigid’s Path
Provides compassionate, family-centered care for newborn babies and mothers impacted by addiction. Brigid’s Path offers a home-like setting for infants exposed to addictive substances, supports bonding between babies and families, provides family advocacy, and connects parents to community resources before and after discharge. Hope’s Closet 
Provides clothing, material needs, community, and support for children in foster care and the foster parents who care for them.

Preschool Promise
Helps Montgomery County families find and pay for high-quality preschool and provides resources to help children get ready for kindergarten.

Be Ready by 5 Collaborative
Preschool Promise program that helps families and caregivers prepare young children for success.

Help Me Grow Brighter Futures
Free voluntary home visiting and family support program for pregnant individuals, new parents, and families with young children. Serves multiple Greater Dayton-area counties.

HTC Dayton
Provides care packages of children’s items to families across 20 Ohio counties through partner agencies. Items may include diapers, clothing, books, and other children’s essentials.

Shoes 4 the Shoeless
Provides brand-new gym shoes and socks to disadvantaged children in Southwest Ohio through in-school delivery programs.
