2006 The Dayton Foundation The Dayton Foundation awarded the JLD a Presidental Grant for the POWER: Kids In Court System program. The JLD, in consultation with the expert multidisciplinary team at Care House, will implement a program to assist abused children by easing their mental, emotional, and physical discomforts as they prepare for their appearances as witnesses. City of Kettering: National Child Health Safety Month Recognition The City of Kettering presented the Junior League of Dayton with an award of appreciation for sponsoring the “Kettering All Wheeled Activity Safety Education Project.” The JLD provided funding to the City of Kettering to present a helmet safety program to elementary school children during the Spring of 2005. Additionally, through the POWER Program, the JLD donated 500 helmets to the City of Kettering for distribution to children in need. These helmets helped families comply with the City of Kettering Helmet Ordinance. 2005 Virginia W. Kettering Foundation The Junior League of Dayton received a generous grant fron the Virginia W. Kettering Foundation to help sponsor the Healthy Lifestyles Initiative of our community program, POWER. Specifically, it will help fund the Healthy for Life Daycare Program, Healthy for Life Evening Parent Program, and Healthy Lifestyles Adolescents Program.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Service Award The Montgomery County Sheriff’s department awarded the Junior League of Dayton for its participation in community safety events with the POWER unit.
