Welcome to The Junior League of Dayton!
The Junior League of Dayton is a group of dedicated and diverse trained women volunteers who have been committed to improving the quality of life for families in our community and creating a legacy of trained volunteers for over 90 years. Our contributions in both leadership and volunteer efforts have made a tremendous impact in our community. I encourage you to take a few minutes to browse our website. You will find everything from historical highlights, community programs, fundraisers, our newsletter The Windtunnel, and more.
Who is The Junior League of Dayton? The Junior League of Dayton was established in 1920 and currently has a membership approaching 500 women who are dedicated to building better communities. That is what the Junior League is all about. We are a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI), a nonprofit organization that brings together 293 Junior Leagues, representing nearly 170,000 women across four countries. What is our Mission? The Junior League of Dayton (The JLD) is committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The JLD reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. What do we do? The Junior League of Dayton can be credited with implementing changes and improving conditions in almost every sector of our society. We provide thousands of volunteer hours every year to address critical issues in our community. Currently, we are focusing our efforts on a children’s advocacy program in partnership with the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton. The POWER (Program of Wellness Education and Resources) Program offers broad community outreach of health and wellness, safety, and prevention programs to the families of the Miami Valley. Please read more about our POWER Program for kids, teens, and parents as in the Community Section of this website. How are we effective? Membership in the Junior League provides women with access to invaluable training from leadership and organizational development to community program work and fund development skills. Through this unique training our members learn to manage and train volunteers, unite communities and form partnerships. How can you learn more about the Junior League?
